Introduction

The E. H. Mancinelli Training Centre has for more than a decade provided quality programs, offering skills development training, youth employment initiatives, and customized leading edge technology training.

Our health and safety programs far exceed legislative requirements, in fact several programs exceed the minimum standards by double instructional content, such as Confined Space Entry, and Hazardous Waste worker.

The skill training facilities offer realistic jobsite conditions, this vastly improves the portability of skills obtained  at the centre to the job, making for a stronger retention of information and a more proficient worker.

The Labourers Union has been on the leading edge of program development for many years in Canada and Internationally, our reputation as an industry leader has fostered partnerships with post secondary educators, government agencies, and special needs facilities. Together great strides have been made to improve the quality of life for the Ontario worker.

Background

The E. H. Mancinelli Training Centre is ideally located between the Hamilton and Niagara regions on the border between Winona and Stoney Creek. Our facility is connected to the Liuna Gardens Banquet Centre, which has afforded the luxury of offering hot nutritious lunches as a unique addition to our programs.

The Centre as it is today opened in 1989, however training has taken place on this site for over fifteen years. Operating as a Training Trust Fund the training centre is a non-profit facility to serve the Local 837 membership, as a skills enrichment resource.

Industry also has benefited from highly our qualified staff, in the area of customized services, recently the training centre in cooperation with Human Resources Development Canada and Cormar Contractors developed a program to train workers on the new technology of Trenchless Technology. This program increased the competitiveness of the contractor, and the skills level of the participants.
